Is the rise in the gay lifestyle a testament to the failure of hetersexuals to sell their lifestyle properly?
On the face of things, being gay is obviously so much better than being straight, but for time immemorial the hetersexuals have somehow been able to sell their lifestyle to the masses. Quite how anyone can be persuaded to give up huge amounts of money and time to bring up children is beyond me. Yet many people do it. This demonstrates that the hetero’s marketing machine is very effective and efficient.
So why has it not been working so well of late?
I think it is a matter of perspective. There have always been ‘gay’ as well as ’straight’ people. All that has happened is the Family unit has broken down and fractured into all sorts of variants. The short of it being more people live alone, even within their family units. Therefore the stereotype of what a gay lifestyle appears to be can seem appealing and also inspire jealousy. As it appears to be carefree, financially independent and a ‘better off’ lifestyle in terms of money and opportunities open to a person.
However the reality is vastly more complicated and open to interpretation. If I were to be honest there are alot more ‘greys’ to peoples lifestyles and sexualities there might appear to be the case, therefore meaning the sharp division between ‘gay’ or ’straight’ isn’t so sharp and that unsettles alot of people.
